Things To Do

The Naples Botanical Garden is a 170-acre world class garden showcasing tropical and subtropical flora and cultures. Their award winning horticultural design brings in over 220,000 visitors per year.

The Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is a 13,000 acre preserve home to the largest old growth Bald Cypress forest in North America. The trees can grow to over 130 feet tall and 25 feet wide. The sanctuary is also home to a variety of wildlife including alligators, wading birds, otters, deer, and turtles. A 2.25 mile long boardwalk makes for easy access through the sanctuary.

The Baker Museum is one of the premiere fine art museums in Southwest Florida. It hosts several traveling exhibitions annually focusing on modern and contemporary art. In addition, the museum conducts numerous lecture series events throughout the year.

The Arthur L. Allen Tennis Center is an award winning public tennis facility. With 12 Hydro-Grid Har-Tru (clay like surface) tennis courts they offer group clinics, league play, social play, private lessons, and junior programming.

Opera Naples was founded in 2005 and has since become Southwest Florida’s foremost opera company. Located in the 264 seat Wang Opera Theatre they consistently produce outstanding full operas, vocal concerts, and chamber music.

Generally speaking, the most natural, pristine beaches in Naples are found in its northern reaches. These include Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park and Clam Pass. At Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park the water is clear and the sand is covered with shells. Snorkeling, stand up paddleboarding, and kayaking are all popular activities as is watching Loggerhead turtles nest during the months of May through October. The Naples Pier is another beach attraction stretching 1,000 feet out into the Gulf of Mexico. It is a great place to watch a sunset.

Boating is a polular past time in Naples and there are four different public boat launching facilities throughout the city if you are not lucky enough to live on the water. Gordons Pass, Doctors Pass, and Wiggins Pass are the three inlets that provide Gulf of Mexico access. Boaters should be aware of the many fixed bridges spanning the inland waterways throughout Naples and should research bridge clearance heights and depths. The best cruising is found in Naples Bay to the south and down through Keewaydin Island. At the very southern tip of the seven mile long Keewaydin Island are where the best sandbar party spots are located. Weekends can be very crowded on the extremely popular and pristine sandbar there.

Fishing is another beloved activity for residents of Naples. The inshore waterways have very little natural shoreline left as most of it has been developed with expensive waterfront homes. However, that does provide for a lot of boat docks to target snook, trout, redfish, and other popular species around. Just to the south of Naples, Keewaydin island has 7 miles of unspoiled natural shoreline to target. On the offshore side in the Gulf of Mexico most of the productive spots for tasty Gulf Coast groupers and snappers will be a long run out, typically 15 to 50 miles. For land based anglers the jetties at the passes and the Naples Pier provide good fishing opportunities.
